On Christmas Day, while stockings hang and ovens cook delicious food, one group Americans is on a mission. They’re super last-minute shoppers, and they need stores to be open. We’ve all been there, right? For them, thankfully, there are stores open on Christmas Day.

Someone forgot the cranberry sauce. Someone else realizes the toy needs batteries, not included, of course. A dog eats the bow. A child changes their wish list right before Santa arrives. For these people, the glow of an open convenience store or grocery aisle feels almost magical. The automatic doors slide open like a holiday miracle. Fluorescent lights replace twinkle lights, but hope remains intact.

It’s not just for fun, either. Open stores also serve practical needs. Medicine does not take a holiday. Diapers do not wait. Neither do headaches, broken chargers or sudden dessert disasters.

In that spirit, here are a handful of stores open on Christmas Day.

7-Eleven

Many 7-Eleven locations will be open all day and night on Christmas, but some locations will have special holiday hours. So, as always, call ahead to be sure your local spot has their doors open.

Albertsons

Albertsons is famous for being open on Christmas Day, but it’s only select locations and with limited hours. Find local hours on their website.

Casey’s

Casey’s stores will be open on Christmas Day starting at 10 a.m. As always, check your local location to be sure.

Giant Food

Many Giant Food stores will be open on Christmas, but some locations will be closed. So, check with your local store before venturing out to get last-minute items.

ShopRite

Even though most ShopRite stores will be closed on Christmas Day, since these stores are independently owned and operated some will be open with reduced hours.

Safeway

Select Safeway locations will be open on Christmas Day with reduced hours.

CVS

Medicine needs don’t take a break for the holidays. In that spirit, many CVS locations will be open on Christmas Day. But, as with most stores, some locations will be closed or have reduced hours, so call ahead and check their website for details.

Walgreens

Most Walgreen stores will be open on Christmas Day, and hours will vary. Before going to get your medicine or other items, call your local store to make sure their open, including the pharmacy, and for hours.

It’s worth noting that many of the big chain stores, such as Target and Walmart, will be closed on Christmas Day.
